Vanity: The Automatic Selfie Stick
About the project
I was asked to put together a vanity project that expresses how much people can be engulfed by social media and the automatic. This selfie stick targets faces and tracks them to periodically take snapshots. Portable power and RealVNC for a totally wireless set up.

Story
At this point, I was pretty confident in what I could do with the Raspberry Pi and AdaFruit 16 Channel Servo Hat and using the myo armband, a modded Adafruit servo code merged with dzhu's famous myo_raw python code which allows you to program the armband to control your Raspberry pi gadgets with a gesture, I figured I'd try for a bionic prosthetic. So with that in mind I 3d printed Hatsyflatsy's servo powered hand on thingiverse to come up with this:
And was later asked to modify it for an artsy, vanity project to showcase humanity's reliance on technology on a social level. I couldn't resist the chance to expand the hands functionality so i slapped a pan/tilt (wrist)mechanism to it and applied some OpenCV with face recognition and tracking..
To finally come up with what we refer to as "Vanity" the automatic selfie stick ;)
Cheers!
