Story

The Aludel Lute Relay smart locker grew out of a previous smart locker project that was all wired point-to-point. The old version also connected over cellular and controlled 12V going to solenoids and LED strips inside an off-the-shelf locker system. I wanted to make a more standardized offering and also use this design for other higher power use cases. As such I created a covering board in a new form factor (the 'Lute') that could plug directly into the Aludel Elixir board below it.



Livestream

Since I was going to be designing a new form factor, I decided to stream the entire process live. That went somewhat awry when my first version had the headers rotated by 180 degrees (but were placed perfectly in the x & y directions!). The first video in the series is below:
