System76 Prepares for New Open-source Desktop Launch

System76 might not be the only Linux PC manufacturer on the market, but it's certainly one, if not the, top Linux PC companies around. Offering pre-built Linux laptops, servers, and desktops, System76 made the foray into the operating system space with its Pop!_OS, an Ubuntu derivative which concentrates on makers and do-it-yourself (DIY) fanatics. However, System76 isn't just providing a customized Linux distro. Now, the Denver, Colorado-based company prepares to launch a set of open-source desktops.

Picroft Migrates to Raspbian Stretch: Picroft Now Available for Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Picroft Migrates to Raspbian Stretch: Picroft Now Available for Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Mycroft on the Raspberry Pi is a neat artificial intelligence (AI) project. This do-it-yourself (DIY) virtual assistant provides an open-source alternative to the likes of Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, and Cortana. You can spin up Mycroft on the Raspberry Pi, or purchase a Mycroft device such as the Mark I or Mark II that's ready to go out-of-the-box. When the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ launched, compatibility with Mycroft for the Pi, or Picroft, broke. However, with an update to Raspbian Stretch, Picroft now works on the Raspberry Pi 3 B+.
SuperPi RetroFlag Cases Announced: Two Raspberry Pi SNES Cases Revealed

SuperPi RetroFlag Cases Announced: Two Raspberry Pi SNES Cases Revealed

The Raspberry Pi is arguably the most popular single-board computer (SBC) on the market. Largely, the Pi reigns supreme despite numerous Raspberry Pi alternatives because of fantastic software and hardware support. Notably, there are countless Raspberry Pi case options available. One of my favorite cases is the NESPi enclosure from RetroFlag. As the name suggests, its a NES shell for the Raspberry Pi, allowing you to create your own do-it-yourself NES Classic Mini. Now, RetroFlag plans to offer two Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) cases in the SuperPi!

Lakka Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Support Arrives With Lakka 2.1.1

Lakka Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Support Arrives With Lakka 2.1.1

When I ordered a Raspberry Pi 2 back in 2015, one of my first projects was spinning up a Raspberry Pi retro game console with RetroPie. Since then, I've experimented with Recalbox and Lakka for old-school gaming on the Raspberry Pi, as well as upgraded to a Raspberry Pi 3 B+. On March 14, 2018, not coincidentally Pi day, the Raspberry Pi foundation debuted its Raspberry Pi 3 B+ board. Basically an overclocked Raspberry Pi 3, the B+ proved a worthy pick up. However, at launch compatibility with most existing operating systems (OSes) was temporarily broken. RetroPie 4.4 brought Raspberry Pi B+ support. Now, there's Lakka Raspberry Pi 3 B+ compatibility via Lakka 2.1.1.

Raspberry Pi Arcade Console Hits Market for Almost $250

The Raspberry Pi remains arguably the most popular single-board computer (SBC) on the market. With loads of fantastic project ideas, a retro game console is simple yet immensely fun.
