Old School Pong From Scratch in 2023
As someone who has been a fan of Dave's Garage on YouTube for quite some time now, I was excited to see a recent video titled "How to Make Pong from Scratch in 2023". For those who aren't familiar with Dave, he is an ex-Microsoft employee who is now retired and spends his time making videos on a variety of subjects, including game development, how computers work, coding, and electronics. This time, he's turning his knowledge towards faithfully recreating Pong's original hardware.
One thing I appreciate about Dave's videos is that he doesn't just show you how to create something, but he also gives you a lot of background information on the history of the topic. In this video, for example, he talks about how Pong was the game back in the day, and how it was literally plugged into your television. In this era of mobile phone games and Steam, it's almost hard to believe that there was ever a time when that was the case!
Dave breaks down the process of creating the game and the hardware in such a way that even a beginner could understand it. But even if you're not interested in game development or hardware hacking, I would still highly recommend Dave's channel. He covers a wide range of topics, and his unique perspective and expertise make his videos well worth watching.

And if you're like me and enjoy his content, be sure to check out his book "Secrets of the Autistic Millionaire", where he shares his experiences on the autism spectrum and the things he wishes he had known when he was younger. Overall, Dave's Garage is a fantastic channel, and I can't recommend it enough.
