Arduino Cofounder Massimo Banzi on the Newly Announced DIY Arduino Kit

Today at Maker Faire Rome, Arduino Cofounder Massimo Banzi announced a new Arduino kit that all DIY tinkerers will love. The Make Your Uno kit allows you to solder your own Arduino Uno from scratch, along with a music shield featuring 6 potentiometers, an amplifier, and a speaker for music and sound creation.

So far there aren't many more details, but we had the pleasure of interviewing Massimo briefly to let him describe the kits in his own words.

Alongside the kit is the nice feature that the cardboard box it comes in is designed to be repurposed into a case for the finished build. Head to the official sign up page to join the Make Your Uno mailing list.

The idea of making your own Arduino from scratch isn't new, and it was something actively encouraged by the Arduino project in the early days. It seemed fitting that while celebrating 10 years of Maker Faire Rome, Italy's biggest name in maker culture is releasing a kit that gets right back to the roots - the childlike excitement of making something yourself, and hearing it sing!
